The new Tigray Land Compensation Directive

The new Land Compensation Directive No. 4/2016 EC has included major improvements to ensure equitable use.
The new Tigray Land Compensation Directive No. 4/2016 was approved last year and capacity building training has been given to the land compensation committees established in the seven sub-cities including the Mekelle city administration .
Community Complaint Handling and Decision Maker Coordinator at the city administration, Mr. Teklemariam Abay, said the objective of the forum is to create similar knowledge and understanding of the new regulations, proclamations and guidelines issued based on land compensation.
The directive takes into account the current situation, ensures equitable use, impartial land compensation committees, he said, adding that there is a process to ensure better and efficient services.
The participants said the training will enable them to provide fair and proper services by having adequate understanding of the challenges that may arise in implementing the new regulations, proclamations and guidelines issued from time to time.
