City of Mekelle has announced that it is preparing to offer technology-based land lease tender services
The Land Use and Management Office of the City of Mekelle has announced that it is preparing to offer technology-based land lease tender services.
The city has introduced LBAS-Electronics software developed by the University of Mekelle to enable lease tendering to be timely and faster, said Alem Girma, Coordinator of the Land Use and Management Process.
There were extensive problems in the previous tender process but the technology will enable customers to get full service within 10 minutes, he said. The technology is currently limited to local networked on the premises of the office but in the future, the process is being prepared to provide services to the customers wherever they are, he said.
Head of the Land Use and Management Office, G/Michael Enun, said the technology will be fully implemented in lease tender No. 70 starting next week.
The process will enable to provide efficient and modern services and the necessary equipment and trained manpower have been prepared for this purpose, he said. The lease tender process, which used to take about three months, can now be completed within 10 days, he added.
In addition, work is being done to provide better services in the overall land services, he said, adding that proper implementation of the cadastral system is crucial. The service was launched in Selam station of Adi Haqi sub-city and is in the process of being introduced in all sub-cities, he said. He said enforcement activities will continue to be intensified.
