Abune Likanos Monastery (Debre Konatl) is located in the central zone, a short distance northeast of Aksum city. Debre Konatl means a lonely wilderness where wildlife abounds.
Abune Likanos was one of the nine saints who lived together in Aksum. The saints stayed together for seven years while serving and being served in congregation. They accepted the request and agreed to have Abune Penteleo and Debre Tsemaet and Abune Likanos at Debre Konatsel, northeast of Aksum Zion.
Abune Likanos used to draw water from his cocky monastery and fill it in a miha and send it to Abune Penteleon and Abune Gerima. He is the father who one day entered Zion in Aksum and prayed when the lights of the temple went out and his ten fingers shone brightly like lamps. Photo Credit: Fb
